PDFTextStream 1.3 broadens developers' access to the library's object model and improves flexibility and throughput.
Snowtide Informatics has released PDFTextStream 1.3, expanding the PDF-text and metadata-extraction library for Java applications and Web services.
"Version 1.3 expands access to PDFTextStream's object model, adding public entities for pages, PDF version information and PDF encryption information. This is part of an ongoing effort to significantly broaden developers' access to PDFTextStream's object model," said Chas Emerick, founder of Holyoke, Mass.-based Snowtide Informatics Systems Inc.
The latest version of PDFTextStream provides page-by-page access to PDF documents, supports retrieval of PDF document revision and encryption information, and offers piping routines for simpler extraction of text from PDF documents and pages.
Using the page-level entity in this version gives users improved flexibility, boosted throughput, and access to page metrics in relation to each singular page.
PDFTextStream 1.3 also introduces compatibility with Version 1.6 of the PDF document specification and represents an upgrade to its document understanding processes, which boost the semantic integrity and accuracy of text extracted, Emerick said.
Version 1.3 is available now and licenses start at $1,900 for a 1-CPU development/deployment license. OEM redistribution licenses are available as well.
