Topsfield, MA – November 12, 2003 – PDFzone and activePDF joined forces
this week with the PDF Conference in Anaheim, CA, to showcase user knowledge of PDF…in a
jeopardizing fashion.
The companies co-sponsored a PDF-flavored Jeopardy! show featuring six
contestants, who had to “audition” by sending a short note to Melissa Reyen,
editorial director of PDFzone, giving a compelling reason as to why they should
be chosen to compete. A panel of expert judges on hand included some of the most
well-known experts in the PDF community: Lori DeFurio, developer evangelist at
Adobe; Leonard Rosenthol, chief technology officer at PDF Sages; and Don
Fluckinger, senior editor at PDFzone.
Tim Sullivan, founder and CEO of activePDF, “starred” as host Alex Trebek
and grilled contestants on categorical questions such as Prepress Workflows, PDF
Wannabes and even John Wayne.
"Everyone really got into the game," said Reyen. "Members of the audience
were raising their hands to answer questions and Sullivan got everyone involved.
“Along with being a fun event, I think PDF Jeopardy really showcased the
level of PDF expertise that was at the conference, not only with the presenters,
but also with the attendees," she said.
Who was the winner? It was Russell Hollmann, of Deskosity. Runners-up
included Chuck Werminger of Democrat Printing; Julian Paquin of Information
Asset Management; Jason Lee of BC Pictures; Andy Bilodeau of American Chemical
Society; and Joy Shantz of the LKSD Graphics
Department.
