Is there an easy way to make screen PDFs from print-ready PDFs?

Is there a quicker way of making screen PDFs from print-ready PDFs? The way I am doing it at the moment is opening the high res PDF, making a Postscript file, and then re-distilling it, making a screen-ready PDF. It seems a bit long winded. --Jenny Wickham

If you are using Acrobat 6.x.x, it is very easy to setup the PDF Optimizer tool in the Advanced menu to downsize the entire PDF to a lower resolution, including images. Then when you "Save As," it will automatically optimize the pdf for the web/screen as long as you have that option checked in the General Preferences. When working with multiple files that are linked, make sure that the box marked "remove unused destinations" is NOT checked or you will lose any cross-references pointing back to another file. Also, it is easy to set up a batch process to optimize a group of files all in one shot. Just set up the Fast Web View batch process to your liking and it works like a charm. --J. Miller
