As the military and intelligence community moves from paper to electronic mapping, PDF is playing a big part in the transition. One important piece of the puzzle is Layton Graphics’ MAP2PDF software, which can turn GPS data into PDF maps. The company announced that it inked a major deal last week with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (“NGA”) to bundle MAP2PDF and Acrobat 6 on Panasonic Toughbook laptops.

“Our partnership with the NGA is an exciting extension of our recent foray into the U.S. government’s military and intelligence communities,” says Phil Lee, executive vice president of Layton Graphics. “As we have found, our MAP2PDF Geospatial Field Technology has endless extensions within the military and intelligence communities to allow quicker access to intelligent PDF maps at hot spots around the world without the costs typically associated with building infrastructures around specialized GIS tools."
