Altsoft has released Xml2PDF Workstation 3.0, an update to its Windows-based client application for converting XSL-FO, SVG, XHTML (Extensible HTML) and WordML files to PDF.
The software comes in combination with a command-line tool that can be used as an external formatting engine using varied XML editors or for batch processing of XML files on a user's desktop, according to the company.
The latest version features new output formats, has been optimized for faster speed using less memory, and boosts typography options, including support for OpenType fonts with Type1 outlines and kerning.
In addition, the application now supports SVG Basic, raster image and GDI output.

Universe Software Announces PDF-Recover Professional 3.6
Universe Software has updated PDF-Recover Professional, which enables users to remove PDF master passwords from protected Adobe Acrobat PDF files.
PDF-Recover Professional lets users create a duplicate copy of a PDF file without passwords and copy, print and edit text and images from the new file. Users can also set new passwords for each file created.
In addition, the utility program also lets users set security permissions, encryption levels and presentation options for PDF documents. Templates can be saved for application to new PDF files. The latest release of the software addresses minor bug fixes.
The software will not decrypt documents protected with user-level passwords that prevent the files from being opened.
PDF-Recover Professional works with Adobe 5, 6, 7 and Form Designer.
The solution is compatible with Mac OS X 10.2 or later operating systems and is priced at $43.75 per license.

A-PDF has released a desktop program for adding and creating page numbers in PDF files.
The stand-alone Windows-based utility works for PDF files compatible with Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 and above. Users can choose from three numerical display settings and can also position the page numbers in left, middle or right settings.
