The newly released correction plug-in is designed for detecting and rapidly correcting PDF errors.Callas Software GmbH of Berlin has released PDFCorrect, a tool designed to expediently correct PDF data prior to printing.
The plug-in offers a wide range of popular print profiles, including profiles which prepare PDFs for magazine ads or newspaper ads, Sheet CMYK, Sheet Spot High Res, and Web Printing CMYK High Res.
For publishers, creative professionals and office users, the tool will come in handy to improve the accuracy and correction of PDF files prior to output.
Users can determine the output target through a menu-driven user interface system that includes 30 ready-to-use correction profiles, and PDFCorrect processes the PDF file in accordance with the output profile. Even the preparation of PDF files for the PDF/X1-a or PDF/X-3 standards is now an output option, the company said.
The company claims the tool can identify more than 100 different PDF problems, even the more difficult ones that occur in relation to patterns, form, XObjects, Smooth Shades, CID and OPI comments. The plug-in utility also includes a text-search feature over all output and correction profiles and has a reporting ability to document all corrections made to each PDF file.
PDFCorrect is available for Adobe Acrobat 6 and 7 and is compatible with Mac OS and Windows 2000/XP. Pricing for a single user license is about $194, with an introductory price, good until May 31, of about $130.
