Ideal for small businesses with remote network environments.

Linksys, a division of Cisco Systems, today announced its Wireless-G Ethernet Bridge with 5-port Switch (WET54GS5). The Wireless Bridge with 5-port Switch provides high-speed cable-free bridging between remote networks within an office and connects wired devices to a wireless network. It comes equipped with enhanced security, a Setup Wizard and a number of advanced features intended to help network a small business simply and affordably.

According to a company news release, Linksys has developed the new wireless bridge with a switch to solve connectivity issues associated with multiple workgroup networks and offices not capable of being wired with Ethernet cables. The new bridge can connect up to five wired devices to an 802.11b (wireless-B) or 802.11g (wireless-g) network from other areas in the office.

“This latest addition to our small business line solves commonly encountered network issues found in many office environments. For one, the wireless bridge with switch will connect a small independent workgroup to the main network for sharing resources and Internet access,” says Steve Troyer, Linksys director of product marketing. “It will also enable small businesses to put computers and other devices in areas which may not be wired for Ethernet such as warehouses, trailer offices and even remote cashier stations in retail environments.”

The Linksys Wireless-G Ethernet Bridge with 5-port Switch (WET54GS5) is now available through E-commerce, catalog, direct response, and distribution channels at an estimated street price of $199.
