AccentSoft unveiled a new tool designed to help firms recover lost passwords for Microsoft Office documents.

The tool, called Accent Office Password Recovery, is aimed at helping firms stay productive, even when employees forget their password or leave the company unexpectedly.

Using three types of attacks – dictionary, brute force and brute force with mask -- the $50 tool recovers modification-type passwords in seconds, although it takes a bit longer for other password types, the company said. It supports Access 6.0, 97, 2000, XP; Excel 97, 2000, XP; Money 99, 2000, 2001; and Word 6.0, 97, 2000, XP (including MS Word 6/95/97 French edition) documents.

The software costs $50 for a single copy, and $66.45 for a business license. A free demo version is available here.
