Latest version adds security and process automation features to software for managing end-to-end print processes.

IBM used the OnDemand show to unveil a new and improved version of its Infoprint Workflow software.

The version adds document security and process automation features aimed at increasing efficiency and helping organizations adhere to new legislation, the company said.

"Recently, changes in the laws have forced many companies to reassess their process management capabilities and control points for auditing and security," said Bruce Otte, worldwide production segment manager for IBM Printing Systems. "Infoprint Workflow has new security and audit features, and a wealth of new features to continue to improve productivity and drive cost out of the output process."

The security features include new print content verification, document authentication and print quality monitoring. The print content verification tools allow customers to verify that printed information matches intended information -- such as verifying that an amount appearing on a printed check matches the intended amount recorded in a database. The new version’s enhanced document authentication features lets users print watermarks and other non-alterable markings to ensure that document are original and unaltered. The tool’s new print quality monitoring features automatically examine a printed page and evaluate the clarity and quality of the applied print, the company said.

In addition to the security features, IBM also added a number of process automation capabilities. For example, Infoprint Workflow now enables direct integration of document factory systems with client business applications. It also includes improved multi-vendor print device management and data stream support.
