With the upgraded ScanSnap Manager, users can attach passwords to PDF files and simplify PDF organization.Fujitsu has released an enhanced model of its ScanSnap scanning solution fi-5110EOX2, including a new software bundle that consists of Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Standard, ScanSnap Organizer 1.0 and ScanSnap Manager 2.0.
The addition of the new ScanSnap Organizer software by San Jose, Calif.-based Fujitsu Computer Products of America Inc., gives users the ability to attach passwords to ScanSnap-created PDF files, displays thumbnail versions of scanned PDF files and enables users to rearrange PDF files using drag and drop, the company said.
Using the upgraded version of the ScanSnap Manager, users can create up to nine unique scanner profiles based on preferences such as application selections, saving locations and scanning modes.
The Fujitsu PDF scanner includes one-touch Adobe PDF generation, business-card scanning capability, 50-page document feeder, and high optic resolution. With the standard bundle, users also receive the Fujitsu ScanSnap scanner Carrier Sheet, which is a paper adapter that enables users to digitize A3 and B4 size documents and scan photos and fragile papers, the company said in a release.

The scanner works at speeds of up to 15 pages per minute for single-sided documents and 30 images per minute for double-sided documents. The scanner can process multipage documents containing color, black and white, text and graphic information into searchable PDF files using Acrobat 7.0.
The ScanSnap is priced at $495 and is available through the Fujitsu Web site, mail order catalogs and Fujitsu resellers. Customers who purchased the ScanSnap fi-5110EOX scanner are entitled to a free upgrade to Adobe Acrobat 7.0.
