SmileOnMyMac LLC on Tuesday released the updated versions of its PDF editing tools, PDFpenPro 2.2 and PDFpen 2.2, with Tiger (Mac OS X 10.4) compatibility and new password protection for PDF documents.

PDFpen 2.2 is priced at $49.95, and PDFpenPro 2.2 is priced at $94.95.

Aloaha Software, part of Wrocklage Intermedia GmbH, has announced its release of Aloaha PDF Suite 2.1.16 and the addition of the Aloaha PDF Editor to the suite.

The Aloaha PDF Editor enables users to add comments or annotations to read-only PDF documents. The PDF tool also gives users the ability to digitally sign existing PDF documents as well as to add text stamps to the documents.

Altium Ltd. has announced the availability of Altium Designer Smart PDF and Altium Designer Viewer Edition as part of its Service Pack 3 for Altium Designer Nexar, Protel, CircuitStudio and CAMtastic users.

The company said the combined release gives users a "two-level design-viewing strategy." The Altium Designer Smart PDF lets users generate PDF documents utilized as part of design projects, which encapsulate all of the associated design workflow data.

The Altium Designer Viewer Edition, which is available free of charge, can be used to view and print design project documents but does not have any editing functionality, so the initial design integrity stays intact.
