Apago has introduced PDF Appraiser, a software program which enables the creation and validation of PDF/A documents on demand.
The free version of the program was announced at the AIIM conference and the company said the full version of PDF Appraiser for both Windows and Mac OS X users will be available in late May.
"With the free version of PDF Appraiser, users can easily check documents for PDF/A compliance. If they want to automatically correct any problems within the file or need more advanced and technically detailed reports, users can purchase the full version," said Dwight Kelly, president of Apago.
Users can purchase a license for $349 and server and API versions will also be available in May 2006, according to the company.

Verypdf.com Releases PDF to Image Converter 2.1
Verypdf.com has updated its Windows-based PDF to image converter program.
PDF to Image Converter 2.1 lets users convert PDF files to image formats, such as TIF, TIFF, JPG, GIF, PNG and others. In addition, version 2.1 supports conversion of type elements within a PDF file including text, line, arc, color and form.
The Windows-based utility does not require Adobe Acrobat or Reader.
PDF to Image Converter 2.1 is priced at $39.90 and is available for download on the company's Web site.
Investintech Releases Absolute PDF Server
Investintech announced its Absolute PDF Server at the Adobe Acrobat and PDF Conference the week of May 15.
"Absolute PDF Server is the first server-based enterprise product to offer complete round trip PDF capabilitiesthat is, Absolute PDF Server extracts from existing PDF documents to other formats and then after editing permits creation of a revised PDF document," said Keith Bradbury, vice president of Investintech.
The program allows users to set permissions, document properties and security options centrally as well as transport PDF data into Excel spreadsheets.
The software is priced at $7995 and is available for purchase from the company's Web site.
