The latest release adds a new PDF Editor Objects program and an integrated picture editor.

CAD-KAS has released CAD-KAS PDF Editor 2.3, adding an integrated picture editor, new vector graphic edit functions and enhanced text editing capabilities.

Christian Kassler, head of development for the Germany-based CAD-KAS Kassler Computersoftware GbR, said the latest PDF editor release enables a wide range of post-editing features for users at an economical price point.

Kassler also said the 2.3 release includes a completely new program called PDF Editor Objects that uses a complete object concept similar to CorelDRAW.

The feature allows users to select and move objects with a pointer as well as copy and paste objects.

The newly released PDF editor also provides support for links, form fields and checkboxes.

New text-editing capabilities were also added to this release, and now users can edit any text in any font using the "virtual keyboard" feature, even if the text encoding is so special that Adobe Acrobat will not change the text.

Kassler said that if users want to change the text of PDF file created on a Mac by using a Windows PC that they cannot do it with Acrobat but can do so with PDF Editor 2.3.

In addition, Kassler said users can add form fields once and then fill them out by clicking on the field and writing the text, and the editor requires the user to add new text objects and search the right position for it, each time a user wants to fill out a form.

The company also worked to improve the speed of all the enhanced functions and simplify the interface.

CAD-KAS PDF Editor 2.3 includes as in previous versions the ability to annotate PDFs, add text and change text including correcting for spelling or deletion of text.

Users also have full text functionality in underlining, highlighting and editing of bookmarks within a document.

Using the Windows-based program, users can also change the page size, edit the source code of the page, and read and write encrypted PDF files.

The program also leaves the layout specifications intact.

PDF Editor 2.3 is available now and priced at $79. For purchase, users can go here.
