PDF suite monitors printer queue and can convert all printed documents into PDF.
Following what Aloaha calls a very successful and short beta release, it
has now released its PDF Suite which provides users an expedient and
non-obtrusive method way to save files in PDF format via printer queues. Company
spokesperson Frank Hellmann explains, "As you know all current products need to
install a dedicated PDF printer. We don't need that. Aloaha monitors the Printer
Queue of all EMF enabled Printers (which are nearly all) and this allows users
to continue with their software just as before."
The PDF Suite released by Germany-based Aloaha Inc. allows users,
according to the company's Web site, to configure the suite to convert every
document into a printer queue (EMF) to PDF. These automatically generated files
can be e-mailed to an e-mail address or public folder or saved to a directory.
The suite can also be configured from a workstation mode to a server-based
solution to generate PDFs. Users can purchase a server license and in this mode
can monitor any shared printer and convert the queue on the server to PDF and
publish these PDFs to a directory or public folder.
Aloaha's PDF Suite does not require any special hardware or software, and
can operate on NT based Operating System such as NT4, Windows XP, Windows 2000
or Windows 2003. Users do not have to attach real printers to their computers,
they just need to install an EMF-based printer driver, says the company. The
install package of Aloaha PDF Suite includes a generic driver as well.
Aloaha spokesman Frank Hellmann, said the suite has already been rolled
out to a company which ordered 1,000 licenses, among others. The PDF Suite's
cost is 49 Euros and $59.00(US) per seat, enterprise licenses are also available
on request.
