The latest release enhances text management and copy features in PDF forms creation for users.

Universe Software GmBH has updated pdf-Office with improved tab handling features and multiselection handling improvement.

pdf-Office Version 3.4, which is available now from the Germany-based developer, has such similarities to Adobe Acrobat Pro as all PDF forms features that Acrobat Reader is able to process can be created with pdf-Office, said Universe officials. The application does not require any PDF import to start document creation.

Thomas Baecker, sales and marketing manager for Universe Software, said enhancements to this version include multiline text boxes; multiselect tab order and group movement; text smoothing; offset of background grid; grid color; new handling of page orders; copy and paste enhancements between documents; and the ability to open several documents in parallel.

The tab order function is very helpful, Baecker said, because users can click to the tab list and see the corresponding form field or click on the form field and see the corresponding entry in the tab list.

Improvements to the copy-and-paste feature allow users when they copy to paste at exactly the same position with the same properties in a new document.

The previous version was released last month; Baecker said the next release is planned for the end of April.

pdf-Office is compatible with Windows 9X, ME, 2000, NT and XP; Mac OS X; and Linux.

A free trial version is available at the company's Web site.
