RedDot CMS 6.1 speeds up the content-contribution process with a simplified authoring environment and PDF-formatting capability.

RedDot, a provider of enterprise content-management solutions, has released RedDot CMS 6.1, the latest version of its Web Content Management System. With this release comes an expedited content-contribution process and comparison templates for improved version control.

Darren Guarnaccia, director of technology for New York-based RedDot Solutions Corp., said the development cycle for this release was about five months and the updated features were focused in two areas: usability and managing workflow.

"First, in usability, we added the SmartDrop and DirectEdit features to simplify the authoring environment and speed the contribution process. The other piece we added is the ability to render a site with a PDF variant… which allows a site to be formatted as a PDF file in addition to other formats," Guarnaccia said.

RedDot CMS 6.1, Guarnaccia said, includes added template versioning for workflow control and the ability to version-control the actual structure of the site in addition to the content of the site.

RedDot CMS 6.1 features, as outlined in the release, also include:

  • SmartDrop—allows content contributors to drag and drop text or images directly on the page.
  • DirectEdit—in-line editing feature that allows Web site content contributors to edit text directly on the Web page.
  • Permanent Preview—feature provides real-time site previews, enabling users to instantly see changes made to their Web pages.

Pricing for the solution starts at $55,000. RedDot CMS 6.1 is available now.
