Company notes that support will continue for Acrobat 5.0 on Sun Solaris workstations.

Authentica Inc. announced this week that its Active Rights Management platform supports the newly released Adobe Acrobat 7.0 for Windows.

The company also noted in the announcement that it will support Acrobat 5.0 for Sun Microsystems Inc.'s Solaris and digital certification authentication with Sun Solaris workstations. The support for Acrobat 5.0 enables the U.S. Department of Defense and clients in the intelligence agency arena to utilize their existing public key infrastructure to protect sensitive data.

Mark Overington, vice president of marketing for Lexington, Mass.-based Authentica, said in the announcement's release, "In today's regulatory-driven world, it is essential to continuously protect sensitive and valuable content not only when it's published, but throughout its lifecycle from creation to collaboration to archiving. Authentica is committed to supporting the breadth of applications and environments that enterprises require to effectively and securely communicate and compete."

Authentica's ARM platform gives organizations the ability to securely manage, control and track content and its protected usage among employees as well as its distribution beyond internal to external networks.

Through its application, companies are able to maintain content and adjust security permission levels at any time during the content's life cycle, including the archival process. This furthers the security of proprietary content with, for instance, government agencies, insurance firms and in the banking arena.

The software is compatible with MS Office, Outlook, Lotus Notes, Adobe Acrobat, and both the Microsoft Explorer and Netscape browsers.

The ARM platform features a series of tools to ensure content is security stable, as outlined on the company's Web site. Those features include ensuring information is protected while at rest, in transit or being viewed; timely permission change available; automatic expiration for boosted version control; protection in MS Office, PDFs, e-mail and Web content files; printed or visual watermark option for documents; and continuous audit trail with delivery confirmation and viewing proof.
