The latest releases offer enhanced PDF customization power for use with Macromedia Director and Macromedia Authorware.Canada-based Integration New Media Inc. has released Impressario Xtra 2.0 targeted at integrating and boosting advanced PDF functionality for users of Macromedia Authorware and Macromedia Director.
The company also released PDF Xtra 7, adding Acrobat/Reader support for Windows to the latest version of the software.
Impressario Xtra 2.0 offers developers more customization options and control over PDF content than the previous version. With version 2 developers can create applications to replace entire paragraphs of information within a PDF document, as well as change images, insert, delete and move pages.
Version 2.0 gives users the ability to tailor and create a new PDF document based on their specific profiles and choices for example in creating personalized product catalogs, proposal tests or score cards, said Integration New Media's spokesperson Nadine Husain.
"INM's Impressario Xtra 2.0 was created due to a need by multimedia developers to, at the very least, display and print PDF documents from within their project, something that cannot be done natively in Director or Authorware," Husaine said.

Husaine also said the release was aimed at giving advanced developers more creative control over their PDF content and in creating a more visual experience for their end users.
Impressario Xtra 2.0 offers users customizable toolbars, an easier to use native scrollbar, and new bookmark support for organizing content in large documents.
The updated bookmark component gives end-users the ability to retrieve bookmarks of the PDF document and use them intuitively to navigate through the PDF content. To add this new functionality to any standard PDF document, developers only need to drag and drop the bookmarks component into their Impressario projects, and select customization options, said Husaine.
In addition, Impressario Xtra 2.0 includes pre-scripted Knowledge Objects and a full user tutorial with open-source samples and free tools to help kick start the PDF integration process.
Developers also have the ability to download PDFs from Web URLs so they can access live, up-to-date content from the Internet, rather than having to deliver the content on a fixed medium or have the user download all content at the start.
Version 2.0 offers full cross-platform compatibility for all current Mac and Windows-based operating systems.
Impressario 1.0 users can upgrade to Impressario 2.0 for $79.
Trial versions are available at the company Web site.
