The updated release offers advanced features for proofing and correcting PDFs prior to printing, including the ability to edit and designate print output options and the ability to specify image resolution, object handling and annotations in a prepress workflow.

Version 2.0 is compatible with Acrobat 6 and 7 and can be run on both Windows and Macintosh operating systems.

Qoppa Updates Java Library

Qoppa Software has released jPDFProcess 2.0, its updated Java library that can be used by developers in Java applications for managing PDF documents.

Gerald Holmann of Qoppa Software said the main features added in this release are support for encryption and permissions, and support for Acrobat 6's PDF layers.

In addition, Holmann said, the company made several performance improvements to the library. jPDFProcess requires Java 1.3 or higher and is Windows-based. A single CPU license price for the solution is $600.

FinePrint Software Addresses Bugs in PDFFactory 2.44

San Francisco-based FinePrint Software LLC has released version 2.44 of its PDFFactory tool for creating PDF files, which fixes several minor imaging and display bugs from the previous release.

PDFFactory lets users combine documents into a single PDF, embed fonts, distribute PDFs using e-mail and optimize PDF files for output. A single user version runs $49.95 and the upgrade is free for current users.

Productive Computing Augments PDF Manipulator

Productive Computing Inc., based in Vista, Calif., has added Adobe Acrobat 7 compatibility to PDF Manipulator 1.0.5.

PDF Manipulator 1.5 enables users to exchange data between FileMaker Pro and Adobe Acrobat PDF files with embedded fields. In addition, the plug-in gives users the ability to create customized PDFs for each record in a database from a single designated PDF file template.

The plug-in also enables users to extract field data from a completed PDF and insert it back into FileMaker, according to the company. This is particularly useful for automating the form-filling process. Users can also combine multiple PDF files into single PDFs for attachment and printing.

A single user license runs $74.95. Get more information here.
