The Adobe Acrobat and PDF Conference 2006 will be held this year in Orlando, Fla., on May 17 and 18. The annual conference features sessions focused on PDF advancements, standards and new techniques for PDF usage.
The conference features speakers from Adobe Systems and PDF authors including Ted Padova, Christopher Smith, Rich Brown and Bob Connolly. More than a dozen experts are expected to attend the conference.

Recosoft Releases PDF2Office Standard 3.0
Recosoft adds to its PDF2Office product line with the introduction of PDF2Office Standard 3.0, a new application for PDF to Microsoft PowerPoint and Word conversions.
With the software users can open and convert PDF files directly in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, as well as specify conversion options for hyphenation processing, mathematical formulas and images.
In addition, the PDF Reconstruction 3.0 engine provides for table identification, boosted graphics processing and conversion for PDF files with complex layouts, according to the release.
The release also provides users with improved font-matching capabilities for PostScript font usage.
The license for PDFOffice Standard 3.0 is $59.

Iceni Technology Announces Gemini 5.5
Iceni Technology has released Gemini 5.5, its PDF converter tool, with several major enhancements to its previous release.
The Gemini 5.5 adds a new color engine for more accurate rendering of CMYK colors, support for JBIG2 and JPEG2000 image formats, improved support for TrueType font rendering and stability enhancements, according to Simon Crowfoot, director of Iceni..
Gemini 5.5 users can export text within a PDF in formats including HTML, RTF, eBook and Palm Doc. In addition, the program enables users to export photos and graphics including JPEG, EPS, TIFF, PNG and BMP formats.
The program is compatible with both the Windows and Mac OS X operating systems. For existing users the upgrade is priced at $59, and a new license runs $159.
